Tom Browne from Radiator has been nominated for the Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker in 36th London Critics' Award

Tom Browne’s Radiator is an insightful observation of obligations, commitment, a family struggle and a second childhood. It explores the difficulty of weakness, both mental and physical, and the pain of unwavering pride. Most of all, it investigates the strength of love.

Radiator is the kind of acutely observed, deeply felt low-budget venture that sustains your faith in independent British filmmaking. Writer-director Tom Browne has taken a deeply personal story and rendered it with a sense of truth and humanity that lends it universal resonance.

“As nuanced and heartbreaking as a great novel” ★★★★ Evening Standard

HUMBLE but not humdrum, this British drama from first time director Tom Browne is mostly set in a Lake District cottage, a residence so authentically chaotic it make the Paper Street House in Fight Club look like an ideal home. It’s got this way because middle-class liberals – autocratic Leonard and flappy Maria (Richard Johnson and Gemma Jones) – are sinking into decrepitude. When their only son, Daniel (Daniel Cerqueira), arrives, he’s determined to put things right. Naturally, things go awry.

Radiator Review by The Daily Express ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

The late Richard Johnson gives a magnificent final performance in Radiator, a beautifully observed family drama inspired by the personal experiences of director Tom Browne. Leonard (Johnson) and his wife Maria (Gemma Jones) have spent 40 years in a remote Cumbrian cottage that is now filled with the junk of a lifetime and overrun with mice.

Radiator Review by GQ

In Tom Browne's beautiful and moving directorial debut, a middle-aged son returns to Cumbria to care for his aging parents. The parents are the cantankerous, fragile yet strangely compelling Leonard (authoritatively played by the late Richard Johnson) and the docile, sweetly patient Mariah (a perfect Gemma Jones). Into their cottage arrives adult son Daniel (co-writer Daniel Cerqueira, whose appearance and long-suffering manner recall Dylan Moran).
