Why Is There Anything Instead Of Nothing

This beautiful film follows the artistic and personal journey of renowned Irish/American printmaker, painter sculptor and visionary, Tighe O'Donoghue/Ross, whose acclaimed works can be seen on permanent display at such prestigious institutions as The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Brooklyn Museum, The Smithsonian National Collection of Fine Art in Washington, D.C., Dublin City Museum, Utah Museum of Fine Arts and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.

Having enjoyed international and commercial success while living in America, he eventually withdrew from the public art scene, relocating with his family to his ancestral home in the wild Killarney mountains of Ireland. Now on a spiritual path of creative discovery, his works such as the remarkable 16 foot bronze sculpture of St. Brendan The Navigator in County Kerry and his luminous stained glass windows entitled Dawn & Dusk at St. Mary's Cathedral, Killarney, have become iconic symbols of Irish cultural identity.

From the streets of New York and wild coast of Maine, to the mountains and lakes of Killarney and moon like landscape of the Burren in Co. Clare Why Is There Anything Instead of Nothing bears witness to Tighe's fierce independence as an artist, determined to explore and experiment across all mediums without constraint. Alongside his newest paintings, many of the pieces shared in the film have never been exhibited before, giving exclusive insight into the life and work of a true original.
